MY PLATFORM

I’m running for Calvert County Commissioner – District 1 because it’s time to govern the government — to put residents first, hold bureaucracy accountable, and deliver practical solutions instead of just talking about problems.

After 40+ years in customer service fixing what’s broken for people, I’ve learned one simple truth: real leadership means identifying the problem and delivering a fix — not making excuses or kicking the can down the road.

Here’s what I will fight for if elected:

Transparency First
No more NDAs, redacted studies, or backroom deals. Every major decision affecting our land, water, taxes, or quality of life must be out in the open from day one. I will push for mandatory public reporting on any new industrial proposal and full public hearings before anything is approved.

Clean Reset on Data Centers
I will introduce an immediate text amendment to remove all data center language from the 2025 zoning ordinance. We need a full reset with truly independent studies on water usage, wetlands, energy demand, noise, traffic, and cumulative impacts — with real public input from the beginning. We can have responsible development, but it must fit Calvert’s rural character and protect the Chesapeake Bay.

Fiscal Responsibility
I support zero-based budgeting so every department must justify every dollar from scratch each year. We will prioritize core services — Law enforcement, fire/rescue, (public safety), education, infrastructure, roads, parks — and carefully review lower-priority spending. No more automatic carryovers or unchecked growth in the budget.

Protecting Our Rural Character
I will champion my proposed Transparency and Protection of Rural Character Ordinance, which includes mandatory reporting, a supermajority (4/5) vote for major industrial proposals, independent studies, and a 5-year sunset clause. Our farms, working waterfront, historic resources, and the Bay are worth protecting for the long term.

Term Limits & Accountability
If elected, I will serve no more than two terms (8 years maximum) and then step aside for new leaders. My word is my bond. Government should serve the people — not become a career.

My Commitment
I will listen to you, show up, do the homework, and work across the aisle when it makes sense for Calvert. I’m not interested in partisan games or endless complaints. I’m interested in results.

It's time to "Govern the government."

Let’s protect what makes Calvert special and build a stronger future together.

Candidate for Calvert County Commissioner – District 1 (Lusby)
KEY ISSUES
Transparency & Accountability

I will bring real openness to county government. No more NDAs, redacted studies, or backroom deals. I will push for mandatory public reporting on any major industrial proposal from day one and full public hearings before decisions are made. Government should serve the people — not hide from them.
Protecting Our Rural Character & the Bay

Calvert’s working waterfront, historic resources, and natural beauty are worth fighting for. I will champion my proposed Transparency and Protection of Rural Character Ordinance, which includes mandatory reporting, a supermajority vote for major industrial projects, independent studies, and a 5-year sunset clause. We can grow responsibly without sacrificing what makes Calvert special.
Term Limits & Fresh Leadership

If elected, I will serve no more than two terms (8 years maximum) and then step aside. My word is my bond. Government works best when new voices and fresh ideas can rise.
Clean Reset on Zoning & Development

I will introduce an immediate text amendment to remove all data center language from the 2025 zoning ordinance. We need a full clean reset with independent studies on water usage, wetlands, energy demand, noise, traffic, and cumulative impacts. Development must fit Calvert’s rural character and protect the Chesapeake Bay — not overwhelm it.
Fiscal Responsibility

I support zero-based budgeting so every department must justify every dollar from scratch each year. We will prioritize core services —
Law enforcement, fire/rescue, (public safety), education, infrastructure, roads, parks — and carefully review lower-priority spending. Taxpayers deserve to know their money is being spent wisely. Prioritizing essential needs over non-essential spending.
Noise & Quality of Life

Families near the Cove Point LNG facility have endured constant industrial noise for over eight years. I will push for continuous 24/7 noise monitoring with permanent stations and public reporting of actual levels (65 dBA daytime and 55 dBA nighttime). Residents should not have to file complaint after complaint just to enjoy the reasonable use and enjoyment of their homes.
